When visiting the capital of the Philippines, you will find that malls are a huge part of the landscape. There’s a mall in every city in the metro, and sometimes more than one! You can even find two to three malls facing each other in one intersection! This just goes to show that Metro Manila malls are a part of every citizens’ life here.

That being said, these Metro Manila malls can offer something for everyone. Whether you need a quick meal, shop at a supermarket, buy clothes or electronics, shopping malls in Metro Manila is your destination. So without further ado, here are the top 5 Metro Manila malls you should not miss (in no particular order).


SM, or Shoe Mart, is the largest mall chain not only in Metro Manila, but the entire country. One of their biggest branches is called SM North EDSA located at North Avenue corner EDSA, Quezon City. It is considered to be the fourth largest mall in the world in terms of leasable area; which is great news for shopaholics. You can spend an entire day exploring the different retailers in the mall and after which, grab some dinner or coffee in Sky Garden.

SM Megamall

Another branch from SM, Megamall is the largest Metro Manila mall. In terms of size, it is as big as the Changi Airport Terminal 2 in Singapore City with a total land area of 10 hectares.

Located along EDSA, right in the middle of the Ortigas business district, this is one mall you will never miss while travelling the busy road of EDSA.

Robinsons Place Manila

Robinsons is another prominent Metro Manila mall chain and one of it’s most popular branches is located at the heart of Manila City. By far, this is the largest Robinsons mall in the country.

Opened in 1995, Robinsons Place Manila boasts of more than 300 local shops, restaurants and entertainment facilities in 7 levels. And with a new wing added in 2008 called the Midtown Wing, it has been updated with even more shopping goodies.

SM Mall of Asia

SM Mall of Asia, another entry for this popular Metro Manila mall chain, is definitely a can’t miss mall to visit. It has a total land area of 42 hectares which holds several interesting highlights.

Of course there is the main mall which hundreds of stores which includes a supermarket and a department store. The main mall also houses an ice skating rink.

Then there is the IMAX theater which has one of the biggest IMAX screens in the world.

You can also take a stroll By the Bay; a row of restaurants and bars facing the Manila Bay. Here you have a lot of options in terms of food and drink. Or if you want, you can simply sit by the breakwater and watch the sunset. There is also a weekly fireworks display here every Saturday.

SMX Convention Center is home to several expos and conventions. It is the country’s largest privately run exhibition center.

The Mall of Asia Ferris Wheel is something you cannot miss either. Standing at 180 feet tall, it has a maximum capacity for 216 passengers. Each air conditioned gondola can fit six people.

This mall is also home to the MOA Arena; a full-sized, modern arena which hosts basketball games, concerts, and many more.

Glorietta and Greenbelt Malls

Ayala Malls do not have as much branches as SM or Robinsons, but they do have offer their own taste and appeal. Glorietta and Greenbelt are Metro Manila malls both located in Makati central business district. They feature the usual local shops but what sets them apart from the others are the high end retailer shops, restaurants and bars. It is definitely worth a visit.
