Almost every city in the Philippines has big supermarkets owned by big players in this industry such as SM, Robinsons, Rustans, Shopwise and Puregold leaving the Filipino people with a wide variety of choices on where to do their grocery shopping. And as there’s an abundance of grocery stores around, people consider a few things before they shop for their needs and the most noticeable ones are location and prices. It would be much more interesting if you were able to include the minor players which are strong in their areas. For example, UniMart in Greenhills, and South Supermarket in Filinvest. If you do a survey in Greenhills and Alabang, I doubt Puregold will come out on top. Second, it would also be nice to include Gaisano in the mix. They are, after all, a leader in supermarket operations in the province. They have also been aggressive in Metro Manila with branches in Fort, Alabang, and Binondo.
